The Omega Constellation Manhattan is one of the great design stories in watchmaking. Launched in 1982 and conceived by designer Carole Didisheim, it gave the Constellation something it had never quite had before: a personality. The "griffes" at 3 and 9 o'clock were born practical, designed to hold the sapphire crystal firmly in place, and became the signature of an eighties icon. Once you know what they are, you see them everywhere.

This example is the ref. 396.1070, produced in 1987. The white dial is crisp and clean, set off by blued hands that catch the light beautifully. The Roman numeral bezel retains its lacquer fully intact. On these Manhattans that is never guaranteed, and when you find one this clean, you notice. Quartz calibre 1444, Chronometer certified, running on its integrated steel bracelet.
